Corviknight
So it makes sense that Tera Raids would be very tough against Pokemon that are already very strong in their generation. In fact, that’s true of Corviknight, the Flying/Steel-type bird Pokemon that was first seen in Pokémon Sword & Shield. But the Pokemon really shines in Scarlet and Violet as a threat to people in the Tera Raid.
Fairy-type Pokemon are especially at risk from Corviknight, so players won’t be able to bring those Pokemon into fight. The best bet is a Pokemon like Gholdengo, which naturally doesn’t get hurt by Corviknight’s moves. However, getting a Gholdengo is hard because you need to find 999 Gimmighoul coins spread out in the Paldea region.
Garchomp
Most of the time, pseudo-legendary Pokemon are much stronger than normal Pokemon. However, they are not as rare or powerful as legendaries. Because of this, these Pokemon can be tough to beat in Tera Raids, especially if they have a lot of different moves. That’s true for Garchomp, a Pokemon that is both Dragon and Ground and was first seen in the fourth-generation games.
Because Garchomp can use strong moves like Dragon Rush and Take Down, you shouldn’t go up against its Tera Raid unless you’re ready. This means adding a Fairy-type Pokemon, but the best choice, the Ice/Fairy-type Alolan Ninetales, isn’t available to catch in Scarlet and Violet yet, at least not until the DLC additions come out.
Annihilape
Annihilape is one of the most powerful new Pokemon in the 9th generation. It evolved from Primeape and has a strong Fighting/Ghost type. It can also use the move Rage Fist, which gives it 50 more power every time it is hit. During Tera Raids, when targets will take a huge number of hits, this is especially bad.
Bringing a Normal-type Pokemon is the only way to protect yourself from this move. Normal-type Pokemon can’t be hurt by Rage Fist. A Hisuian Zoroark is especially helpful because it can use STAB moves against Annihilape because it is a unique Normal/Ghost type. However, even types that are immune to Ghost will be hurt by Rage Fist in the end.
Dondozo
A new Pokemon called Dondozo, which is of the Water type, has really changed the way Scarlet & Violet is played. When used in Double Battles with the Water/Dragon-type Tatsugiri, its signature move Order Up will work with Tatsugiri’s ability to make them one very strong unit that is hard to beat. However, this can’t happen in Tera Raids.
Dondozo is still a real threat in its normal shape, though. Because it has a very high HP stat that makes it hard to kill over time. It could also be dressed up as a Tera type Pokémon with even fewer flaws than a Water-type Pokémon. This makes Dondozo a very tough opponent for any group of four trainers.
Delphox
Delphox is the fully evolved form of Fennekin, which is the Fire-type starting Pokemon in Pokémon X and Y. It was first released in Scarlet & Violet through a special event 7-star Tera Raid as a Fairy-type. Steel-types that were fighting Fairies had a hard time because Delphox could use Fire-type moves and Will-o-Wisp them.
Some players might be lucky if they can get Pokemon like Heatran and Zacian through Pokémon Home. Other players should probably look for a good build of the ninth-generation Pokemon Ceruledge and Armarouge, which are only available in this form. But it will still be hard for them to fight Delphox. Because it can get into the Magic Room and use held items.
Greninja
By far, the most notoriously hard Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was the Water/Dark-type Greninja. Which was Delphox’s fellow fully evolved sixth-generation starter. Many players found it hard to beat a 7-star Poison-type Greninja, especially since the Greninja is well-known to Space Bar Clicker fans from its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate cartoon appearances.
It is clear that this Greninja Tera Raid got the name “Greninja the Unrivaled” because it is so hard to beat. Players should use a well-built Clodsire because it is Poison/Ground and has the ability Water Absorb. Which protects it from Greninja’s Water- and Poison-type weapons. However, Clodsire is still not a great choice for offense.
